Jovita Sakalauskaite Akgun

In 2009 completed a Master’s degree in Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Department of Textiles. In 2014 she attained a Diploma of Doctorate in Art, from Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Fine Arts, Department of Tex- tile and Fashion Design (Turkey). Since 2004 the artist has participated in different national and international exhibitions (China, Ukraine, France, Latvia, India, Poland, Spain, Uruguay) has presented her articles and reports in international symposiums. To-date she has opened more than 9 personal exhibitions in both Lithuania and Turkey. 2017 the fiber art installation exhibited in the VII Bi- enal Internacional de Arte Textil Contemporáneo in Urugvay was awarded by the honor mention award. Her works take places in the personal collections in Turkey, Lithuania, France and Dominican Republic. Several of the art projects are owned by World Textile Association and the museum of Vilnius Academy of Arts.

In 2018 she received the title of Associate Professor by the Interuniversity Council in Turkey.

In 2018 Spring semester Jovita Sakalauskaite was invited to give lectures and workshops for the Department of Arts and Crafts, Academy of Arts and Design, Tsingua University, Beijing, and for the Special education Arts School of XI’AN Academy of Fine Arts, Xıan, China.

From 2014 till the 2019 she had been working as a lecturer in Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts, Depart- ment of Fashion and Textiles.
